Series Overview
Campione! is a 13 episode anime television series released in 2012 based on the light novel series of the same name. The series follows Godou Kusanagi, a high school student who inadvertently becomes the seventh and youngest Campione (Champion), a human who has killed a god and stolen their powers and weaponry.
Biological Unit
In the series' twelfth episode (The Sword of Ama no Murakumo), a shrine maiden named Ena Seishuuin becomes envious of Erica Blandelli, another maiden who has seemingly won the affection of Godou. Ena plans to kill her out of jealousy in the realm of Purgatory, and offers herself to Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi, a mystical sentient sword that can possess her body. Before "Ena" can kill Erica, Godou arrives and saves his beloved from a grisly fate. After a short battle, the living sword retreats after it senses that Ena has been injured during the fight.
A short time later, Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi returns, revealing that it has evolved into a large humanoid tree-like monster with Ena embedded into it's "head".
