Yurika Misumaru (Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness)

Movie Overview

Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness is an anime film which serves as a sequel to the 1996 television series Martian Successor Nadesico. It was released in Japanese theaters on August 8, 1998.

Biological Unit

Yurika Misumaru was believed to be dead after the Mars-bound shuttle she and her husband Akito Tenkawa exploded. In reality, Yurika and Akito were abducted by a terrorist group known as the Martian Successors to be used for their experiments on "Boston Jumping" (a form of teleportation). While Akito escaped his captors, Yurika became a Biological Unit translator for a machine used by the Successors which was capable of large-scale teleportation.

During her time as a Biological Unit, Yurika's thoughts and dreams were able to be seen and controlled by the Martian Successors, which they used to control the Boston Jumping machine to which she was bonded to.

Eventually Misumaru was rescued by the crew of the NS-966C Nadesico C, led by Ruri Hoshino.

After seeing Yurika being used by the Successors, Ruri Hoshino fantasizes that perhaps Akito Tenkawa and Inez Fressange are also part of the Boston Jump rune.

A presentation by the member of the Martian Successors explains that Yurika's role is to act as a translator between humans and the computer that creates Boston Jumps.

Ruri Hoshino envisions herself as part of the machine during a daydream.
