Jericho (Seven Deadly Sins/Nanatsu no Taizai)

 

Seven Deadly Sins (AKA 七つの大罪/Nanatsu no Taizai) is a is a Japanese fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki, first serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from October, 2012 to March, 2020. It was adapted into a 24-episode anime in 2014.

The series follows a group of knights (the titular "Seven Deadly Sins") in a medieval-inspired landscape as they battle monsters and figures inspired from various traditional sources, such as Christianity and Arthurian legend.

Biological Unit

The character of Jericho is a skilled warrior who has aspirations of becoming a "Holy Knight" like her brother Gustaf, though these hopes were diminished by her mother (who told her that she could not become a Holy Knight because she was a woman). Eventually, Jericho (like many others who had tried to become Holy Knights) decide to use Demon's Blood to amplify her powers and abilities, though it came with an unforeseen consequence.

It was while in the kingdom of Liones that a former Holy Knight named Hendrickson would use a spell which would awaken the Demon's Blood coursing through the veins of many inhabitants of the land, including Jericho. This spell allowed the blood to mutate and summon demons that grew out from the flesh of those who had drank the magic vital fluid, and feed off the "negative feelings" of their hosts. These Demon Hybrids rampaged through the streets of Liones until the arrival of Ban, a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, who used magic to separate the demon from Jericho's body and destroy it.

These events were depicted in chapters 85 through 90 of the Nanatsu no Taizai manga, and episodes 21 and 22 of the Seven Deadly Sins anime.

...only for Ban to catch her in his arms.
