Nexus Amplifier (Uncanny X-Men)

Series Overview

Uncanny X-Men is an American comic book series by Marvel Comics, which first began publication in 1963. The series follows a super-hero team of Mutants (Humans with altered DNA that gives them various powers and abilities).

Biological Unit

In issue #276 ("Double Death"; May, 1991), the X-Men and another hero team called The Starjammers are captured by the shape-shifting Warskrulls, and placed within a large bio-mechanical machine called the Nexus Amplifier. The Nexus Amplifier allows the Warskrulls to mimic the appearance and powers of anyone integrated into it's system.

In the following issue (#277; "Free Charlie"; June, 1991), the X-Men and Starjammers are eventually freed from the Nexus by the members who were not captured by the Warskrulls.
