Ayaka Sanders (Majuu Sensen/Demon Beast War)

 

Series Overview

Majuu Sensen: The Apocalypse (also known as Demon Beast War and Beast Fighter) is a 2003 anime series that serves as a sequel to the 1975 manga simply titled Majuu Sensen. The series follows Shinichi Kuruma as he protects a girl named Ayaka Sanders. Both Shinichi and Ayaka possesses a rare blood type that a doomsday cult require in order to resurrect God and initiate the apocalypse. Shinichi is what scientist refer to as a "New Human", someone with the ability to conjure the powers of (or even transform into) animals.

Biological Unit

In the show's third episode, Shinichi fights the last remaining members of The Demon Trio, a group of New Humans sent to capture Ayaka. One member's mutation allows him to transform into a Dinosaur, while the other turns into a red-skinned, bat-like Harpy. After Shinichi manages to severely wound both of his attackers, the Dinosaur tells the Harpy to use his body to destroy Shinichi once and for all. The Harpy removes the Dinosaur's head, sending a wave of flesh and veins from it's neck to snatch Ayaka from Shinichi's arms. Ayaka is embedded into the Dinosaur's chest as the Harpy takes root in the neck.

Shinichi, unable to attack the Dinosaur's new "heart", is beaten to the brink of death until Ayaka's father, Doctor Jacob Sanders, arrives. After a back and fourth dialog between Doctor Sanders and the Harpy, Sanders fires a needle from a pistol which destroys the fusion of flesh between the Harpy, the Dinosaur's body, and Ayaka. Just before the Harpy can kill Doctor Sanders, Ayaka awakens her own power for the first time, allowing her to take control of the Dinosaur's movements. At that moment, Shinichi finds the strength to get back up, and the Harpy removes Ayaka from the Dinosaur's chest. With Ayaka out of the way, Shinichi unleashes on the Harpy and destroys her in just a few moments.
